Green Building Services Inc. has opened an office in Houston to capitalize
on the growing focus in Texas on sustainable development.
Portland-based Green Building Services is a consulting firm that focuses
on sustainable development, or development that is more environmentally
friendly than traditional building methods.
The firm helps obtain LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design)
certification from the U.S. Green Building Council for clients' developments.
Green Building Services projects include the first LEED Platinum building
on the National Register of Historic Places; the first LEED Gold hospital;
and two of the first three LEED for Neighborhood Development projects in the nation.
Houston is the fourth office for the company, which to date has managed
the certification of 42 LEED projects and has more than 200 other green
building projects in the works.
The firm has hired Amanda Tullos to lead the new local office.
