Burj Al Arab (Tower of the Arabs)

Established in 1999, the sailboat-shaped Burj Al Arab (Burj is Arabic for “tower”) has become the globally recognised symbol of modern Dubai. An iconic structure, Burj Al Arab truly symbolises Dubai’s transformation from a tiny Arab hamlet into one of the most dynamic and happening cities on the globe.

At 21 metres (1,053 ft), Burj Al Arab is one of the tallest hotels in the world, and is often termed the first seven star hotel worldwide. It stands on an artificial island located 280 metres (919 ft) out into the sea, and is connected to the mainland by a private bridge.
