How do we meet the challenge of rising world energy demand that’s set to triple over the next hundred years? How do we achieve a cleaner, more sustainable future?

On 19 - 21 January 2009, Masdar will organise and host the second World Future Energy Summit (WFES) in Abu Dhabi. This will be the world’s largest conference and exhibition on renewable and future energy solutions, innovations, investments, policy and vision.

Masdar will present an even bigger and more high-profile event in 2009, bringing together the world’s leading innovators, educators, scientists, venture capitalists and experts in the field of future energy – people who are champions and catalysts in creating sustainable solutions.

The conference will cover a wide range of themes including energy policy, investment and funding, green buildings, clean transport, solar, wind and biofuels. With over 15,000 attendees expected to be present, the summit will be the largest meeting of influential figures within the renewable energy industry.

Speakers in 2009 will include ministers, politicians, business leaders, environmentalists and opinion makers from around the world including: former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair; Mr Jens Stoltenberg, Prime Minister of Norway; Professor Lord Stern; and Lady Barbara Thomas Judge who was Chairman of the UK Atomic Energy Authority.

The exhibition in 2009 has been extended to cover over 20,000 square metres and will include a series of new feature areas to encourage networking and interaction within the global community. There will also be a range of high profile events including the Zayed Future Energy Prize (insert link to ZFEP website within this text) award ceremony and gala dinner.

Masdar, Abu Dhabi’s response to the need for sustainable solutions to meet the world’s future energy needs, is the founder of the World Future Energy Summit. Masdar is the region’s emerging leader in the research, development and deployment of renewable energy and sustainability related technologies. It is a long-term, strategic, global commitment, responding to some of mankind’s most pressing issue; future energy supply, climate change, and truly sustainable human development.

Join us in helping to meet this challenge.
